After Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC), former finance minister Miftah Ismail has been removed from the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), ARY News reported on Tuesday.

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has been included in the ECC as a member, whereas, the membership of Sardar Owais Leghari was also ended.

Punjab Finance Minister Mohsin Leghari was also included as an ECC member. The committee is headed by the prime minister and four chief ministers are its members.

The other members included Ahsan Iqbal, Naveed Qamar, Asad Mahmood, Nisar Khuhro, Taimur Jhagra and Noor Muhammad Domar.

The federal government had decided to retain Miftah Ismail as federal minister. Sources said that Ismail will be part of the federal cabinet without any portfolio.

The notification for the appointment of Miftah Ismail as a federal minister had been issued on April 19. An unelected person could retain status for up to six months.

According to the regulations, Ismail will complete his tenure as federal minister on October 18 – 2022.

Miftah Ismail had resigned from his ministry and handed over his resignation to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif in London.
